Week end in Lyon!
I'm taking 5 days off, going to Lyon, city of my home-university.
More news next Monday. I have nothing to say, now except my 8-hours-long trip from yesterday ! ;)

Ever seen a hero?
Super Konzert heute Nacht. "Wir sind Helden" in Mainz (we're heroes). Die deutschen Besucher dieses Posts werden die band schon erkennen. Einfach einer der Besten Bands der letzten zwei Jahren in Deutschland. Stimmung war voll gut, wobei ich noch was stimmungsvolles von WSH-Fans erwartet.
Songs von der Band könnt ihr euch auf deren WEB-Seite anhören. Il y a même une version française du site and an english version. Jetzt, macht Platz für die Bilder!
Sonst war der Tag auch ganz angenehm. :)

Mad's recovering night

Such an exciting sunday!
I really look forward to having passed this f***ing exam tomorrow. I've never spent such a boring day. 12 hours of non-stop learning. Well, I've been luckily interrupted by a small group-work (it was my communication opportunity!!) and a case-study assignment.
Otherwise, Wachstum und Verteilung (Growth and Distribution) have both kept me in the "lounge"-room at WHU. No interesting picture to show today, so you'll only have an insight in today's dinner!
Cheap for a dinner! ;)
Besides learning, I've been surfing around the web and found some interesting sites:
- Clarks Originals website. Very nice.
- Star Wars exhibition at La Villette in Paris. You should watch the funny videos!
- Frontline Shop. Great articles.
- Incognito. Funky and groovy music.
Well, I guess, it's time to go to bed. H-7,5 before exam.

Thai Rüüan Restaurant
Second time I go to Coblence to the restaurant. Second time at "Thai Rüüan Restaurant". As really good adress, if you like asiatic food. I've first been there with Anna, Alejandro and Richard, after we've run the Frankfurt Marathon, to celebrate our vicctory (first mixed team!). Tonight, we went there with Jan, Madeline, Caroline, Jérôme and Melanie.
As a reminder:
- Madeline is from EM Lyon like me and she's doing this double-degree program
- Jan is Madeline's boyfriend
- Caroline and Jérôme are both from Bordeaux EM, preparing this double-degree program, too
- Melanie is Caroline's roommate
As usually with this group, it was very funny and nice having dinner together.

Chinese like it hot!
Today was one of the most exhausting day of the week... From 8am to 6pm, we had this compulsory seminar about current topics in Supply chain Management. Quite interesting, I must admit, but I wanted to sleep so much! Acually, I had to prepare this presentation the night before... And moreover, the night before I wouldn't have missed the dinner with McKinsey, the famous consulting company.
Actually, that's a topic I would like to talk about. How high is the chance that a French student gets emplyed in the German office of a conslting firm? I've talked to several consultants from Booz, Bain or OC&C and they all told me approximately
You can apply to our company, for sure. But I would recommand you to begin in France as a consultant... maybe then, it'll be easier for you to come back to Germany for being a consultant.
OK... But what if that's exactly the opposite I want for my career? And what if being emplyed as a consultant in France is not so exciting as being a consultant in Germany... I've got the impression consulting has a bad reputation in France. I'm not sure if it's really founded, or if that's only a cliché, but French companies (excepted big global Frnech companies like Bouygues, Alsthom, etc.) doubts on efficiency of consulting. While in Germany many "mittelständige" Companies (middle-sized companies) are considering external consulting as a value-added, I'm not sure that's the case in France... I might look for information of the topic and the opportunities of getting employed in strategic management consulting outside Germany.
So, after that exhausting seminar, we were invited by Jérôme at his place to enjoy a Chinese Dinner Yifei and Lilly had prepared. The meal was so delicious! Sushis, spicy chicken and ananas-cake. Regarding SPICY chicken... "spicy" is a soft word to qualify the meal. It was BURNING! But very good. And Yifei made an extra plate for me without Paprika, Thank you Yifei! Jan, Madeline's boyfriend, and Richard and Fred (a French mate of Richard) joined us after the meal. As usually, a very pleasant evening at Jérôme's place. And for once, we did not speak only French!
Last, but not least, Jérôme gave us an Advent Calendar for traditionally preparing Christmas! Nice attention! ;) I can't wait opening the first case with the first chocolate!
Tomorrow and Sunday... I think I'll learn again and again for this "Wachstum und Verteilung" exam. It'll be fun!
Update from Saturday 19.11.05
I'm just adding some pictures from yesterday night.
Lilly preparing the VERY HOT Chicken.
Melanie, proudly showing her Advent Calendar
Madeline desesperatly imitating German students,
while Jérôme and Caroline are playing with their chopsticks.
Yifei, threatening a cake with her knife...
Anyway, Lilly's always smiling!

Feels juste like it should
I just got the "new" album from Jamiroquai and I must admit it's really good. My favorite song, of course, is "Feels Just Like it should" (the VIDEO is quite good, too). I didn't stop listening to it for 3 days and I still want more! I should look for the remixes they talked about on the fan-page.
Today was one of these exhausing days I use to travel through since I am at WHU... First lesson at 8am and now, I'm still learning for tomorrow's company visit. We've to make some consulting project for a german company, called "SEBAMED". Their products are not very exciting, but the guys are quite nice and the work they're asking not too much complicated. As amazing as it sounds, Sebamed even sells products in Asia! See picture below to be convinced!
Anyway, there has been a good point in that day: the potluck Anna organized so that we could finally meet her husband, she's been talking about for so long! ;) Anna's coming from the US and I ran with her, Richard and Alejandro at Frankfurt Marathon. Since that time, we use to meet a lot, go to restaurant and so... Very nice evening, with nice people and good food!
Thank you, Anna for the dinner!

So many blogs about Vallendar
As I just launched my blog like 2 days ago, I made a quick tour on the net to see what's being done regarding blogs... And of course, I tried to find blogs from other Tauschies.
By the way, a "Tauschie" is an exchange student at WHU.So in order of appearance (in my browser)
By the way, I AM a Tauschie, as I am doing an exchange at WHU!
- Matthieu: as far as I know, a very professional blog, really.
- Marc: very informative and in english, please
- Diana: I can't speak portuguese!
- Nirav: I don't know him very well... a dark blog!
By the way, I've had great news tonight, just after this SAP-presentation. I don't have to re-write my microeconomics-exam! This is sooo great. At WHU, to pass an exam, you must have maximum 4 as a grade. I had 3.7! In other words, I outstanded my awaitings!
Well, now I must rets a little, but I guess I'll sleep well. At least this good mark will have made me feel lucky!

PROVEN: Growth and Distribution lead to mess
While my parents just came back from a week-end in Como, friends of mine are enjoying their time in Barcelona, I've got the pleasure to learn for my next exam "Growth and Distribution". Macro-economics. Quite interesting, but sooo difficult!
I didn't even had time to tidy up my room... It's getting more and more messy, here! Would someone be so nice and come to Vallendar to help me cleaning?
Now I'm going to this SAP-presentation. After listening to them for an hour or so, they would offer us dinner. Although it will be a German dinner, I'll go either!

France-Germany : We had to be there.
Everyone is aware that I'm not that particularly fascinated by football.
However, being a French student in Germany had me go to KOROVA to watch the game France-Germany. Is was quite funny, but nobody won. 0-0...
My friends Madeline and Richard were there too, supporting France.
Actually, I have to get interested in football... A little, at least. Finally, FIFA world-championship will take place in Germany by the time I'll still be here. Can someone help me understanding football? ;)
